A look at what’s going on over the next few days, including a motorbike expo in Zurich and a fishing and hunting fair in Bern. Geneva hosts a rock and reggae festival while Russian figure skaters take to the ice in Davos. Also in Zurich, treats for Beatles and Elvis fans. Finally, the third and final carnival act gets underway across the nation.

Swiss-Moto fair, Zurich, February 18-21

Hot wheels are the focus of this expo – more specifically, motorcycles, scooters and quads. In addition to watching stunt shows or going for a short test drive, visitors can meet and greet famous bikers like Swiss champion Tom Lüthi.

Fishing, hunting and shooting fair, Bern, February 18-21

Bullets and arrows and hooks – oh my! This is THE fair for hunters, marksmen and fishing enthusiasts. More than 200 exhibitors offer the latest products, services and know-how, while biodiversity is the central theme of the fair.

Ice-Gala, Davos, February 19-20

Russian ice skating magic comes to Switzerland in this fascinating show. In addition to elegant figure skating routines, eye-popping action is also on the agenda with ice acrobat Sergej Jakimenko. He plans to do a back-flip over a car!

Festival Les Traverses Musicales, Geneva, February 19-20

For the 14th time, this annual festival brings a diverse blend of sounds to the Geneva music scene. Friday is designated as electro-pop-rock night, while Saturday is reserved for pure reggae. Three bands are on tap each night.

Antique market, Martigny, February 19-21

With 6,000 square metres of exposition space and 120 vendors, it’s easy to spend a few hours digging through old treasures here. Meanwhile, antique music boxes and other automatic music devices are the focus of a special exhibition.

Horned sledge races, Alt St. Johan, February 20

Big sledges, big slopes, big fun: the international races in this Toggenburg town in Saint Gallen promise all that and then some. There are races for two-, three- and four-seaters plus a category for wild and crazy decorated sledges.

Zipflbob Swiss Masters, Stoos, February 20

Wondering what the heck a Zipflbob is? It’s a zany device for sliding downhill, more or less on your bottom. Stoos in central Switzerland is hosting the “Swiss Masters” event. On Saturday, anybody can give it a go – for free!

The Cavern Beatles, Zurich, February 21

The “Fab Four” are back in this live tribute show featuring four lads with an uncanny resemblance to the originals. Their focus is Beatles music from the early 1960s, in particular the songs played at the legendary “Cavern” club in Liverpool.

Elvis Presley, Zurich, February 22

Suspicious minds? The “King” is also back thanks to the illusions created by sophisticated video projections. The show spans the singer’s entire career and features live backup singers as well as an orchestra. That’s all right!

Carnival fun

It’s time for the third and final wave of Swiss carnival madness. Here are the vital stats for the major ones:

Biel / Bienne, February 17-21

Bern, February 18-20

Zurich, February 19-21

Payerne, February 19-22

Winterthur, February 19-22

Basel, February 22-24
